Abstract
The AIRBUS X-WING Alpha project is a demonstrator of a new wing concept that will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, supporting Airbus' ambition for zero-emission aviation.
The wing uses active control technologies to enable ultra-high span wings, providing significant performance benefits through loads and weight reduction. This aerodynamic optimisation can be applied on aircraft with conventional propulsion or act as an enabler for hybrid or zero-emissions aircraft. The wing will be exposed in the future to real operational conditions in flight tests, in order to validate its performance benefits.
