Structural basis for interaction of DivIVA/GpsB proteins with their ligands.

Description | We sought to determine whether the bacterial cell cycle regulator, GpsB, was a potential target for novel antibiotic drug discovery. Though the assays that were used were successfully conducted, we were unable during the course of the award to identify novel chemical scaffolds that could lead to new antibiotics. |
Exploitation Route | We subsequently used the x-chem facility at diamond to extend the screening capacity of GpsB, but despite obtaining over a dozen potential binding sites of interest none of the compounds, from a screen of over 600, were effective in a competition assay. |
