ENNOBLE - zEro emission raNge exteNder fOr hyBrid propuLsion systEm

Lead Participant: SAMAD POWER LTD

Abstract

Samad Power proposes disruptive propulsion for future transport systems through the development of an onboard zero-emission direct-drive generator by directly integrating a hydrogen Micro Gas Turbine (MGT) with a high-speed electric generator controlled with innovatively designed power electronics (PEMD enhancement in power generation).

The project aims to address the challenges of a directly connected gas turbine and alternator to benefit from reducing weight and increasing operational endurance. The hydrogen combustion chamber provides zero-carbon propulsion.

Two UK-based SMEs and a UK knowledgebase partner have established this consortium to ensure the effective delivery of the projects toward the zero carbon road map.

During this project, the application for UAS will be explicitly demonstrated in collaboration with an eVTOL developer, Arc Aerosystem. The ENNOBLE will bring a zero-carbon, reliable technology and scalable onboard power unit to realise a more extended mission which was not possible previously employing electric propulsion systems. The proposed solution brings the dream of clean transport into reality.
