Reimagining children's spaces with Seven Stories: The National Centre for Children's Books
Lead Research Organisation:
Newcastle University
Department Name: Sch of Architect, Planning & Landscape
Abstract
The proposed research involves working with Seven Stories - the national centre for children's books, who aim to preserve and celebrate Britain's rich heritage of children's literature - to investigate how the design of spaces can help children learn and explore, including investigations into advanced materials, smart, flexible and clean energy technologies, and technologies for the creative industries. The research will involve a creative practice component exploring and designing childrens' spaces in the city, both physical and digital, based on Seven Stories organisational needs. The project has broader reach, however, considering the place of children in the city more broadly.
