Improving the Follow-up of Diabetic Patients by Measuring Earwax Glucose Concentration through a Self-Sampling Device

Lead Participant: TREARS LTD

Abstract

_Trears biomarkers is on a mission to improve access to sustainable diagnostics. Trears is a patented diagnostic device, which can be used to non-invasively detect diabetes._

_It is estimated that 415 million people are living with diabetes in the world, which is estimated to be 1 in 11 of the world's adult population. Adherence rates to diabetes testing among diabetes patients are very low. It has been found that up 51% of the diabetes patients, who were previously hospitalised declined an invitation to attend outpatient follow-up sessions after hospitalization_ _(Whitehouse FW et at. 1979)__. This group of patients had significantly higher hospital readmission rates than patients who were possible to follow up._

_We found that Trears earwax glucose is 59% more predictable that HbA1c for estimating chronic glycaemia over a month. Trears test is cost effective, pain free, accurate and reliable (H__erane-Vives, A. et al 2021)_

_This project will be a critical step towards completion of the regulatory submission to enable commercialisation._
