VO+ Polyethylene Film Commercial Prototype Development
Lead Participant:
VOID TECHNOLOGIES LIMITED
Abstract
"Plastics have become a core part of the global economy, with global consumption rising from 15Mt in 1964 to 311Mt in 2014\. This rapid growth has had a huge environment impact, as large-volume plastic production has created unsustainable levels of waste and reliance on non-renewables.
VOID is a groundbreaking materials science company developing a new and extensively patented plastic film technology (branded VO+) that will address these important sustainability challenges.
VO+ is a revolutionary technology that engineers micro- and nano-scale voids (hollow cavities) into commodity and bio-plastics to make today's products with up to 40% less plastic. The resulting structures create lighter, stronger, and more sustainable products.
This project is targeting the most consumed plastic film, Linear-Low Density Polyethylene film. VO+ will provide a rapidly adoptable and highly impactful sustainability solution for this mass market."
