Low-cost ultra-thin endoscopes for improved cancer detection

Lead Research Organisation: University of Nottingham
Department Name: Faculty of Engineering

Abstract

The aim of this project is to develop an ultra-thin, low-cost endoscope that is capable of imaging cancer in areas of the body that are hard to reach, such as the pancreas and the ovaries, and that is suitable for clinical use. This next-generation endoscope would also enable improved image contrast, allowing for detection of these cancers at earlier stages, hence increasing chances of survival.
