Optimised Powders for Sustainable Additive Manufacturing

Lead Participant: L.P.W. TECHNOLOGY LIMITED

Abstract

Optimised powders for Additive Manufacturing (OPSAM) takes a unique, holistic look at the raw materials for Additive Manufacturing processes such as Selective Laser Melting. The project will optimise powder properties, such as flow rate, for a diverse range of machine platforms in a rapidly expending and changing market. Individual requirements for different machine types will be identified and new powder specifications designed to accommodate these. As well as powder behaviour, the powder production and processing will be considerd to maximise the amount atomised powder which is useful for Additive Manufacturing. This will lead to improved environmental and financial impact.
