AI adjudication in the construction industry

Lead Participant: FLYING RIVER LTD

Abstract

This project seeks to leverage AI to mitigate conflict and streamline contract management within the construction industry, primarily between property developers and construction firms. The goal is to increase trust and reduce the number of legal escalations by improving contract management throughout the project.

A 2022 report by Kings College and the Adjudication Society states that 49% of disputes are caused by inadequate contract administration, with 41% arising from the incompetence of project participants. Over 1900 adjudication referrals were recorded in the year 2021/22, with an median cost of £12k-£14k and 9% of cases costing more than £50k in adjudication fees alone.
