SUPREME - Scaling Up Power electronics for REM free E-Machines & EDUs
Lead Participant:
ADVANCED ELECTRIC MACHINES LIMITED
Abstract
SUPREME will establish a route to cost effective manufacturing scale up of Electric Drive Unit (EDU) systems through the development of a unique, compact and efficient Power Electronics solution for AEM’s patented Rare Earth Metal (REM) free motors. This highly advanced, next generation Power Electronics system will be developed and tested for robustness and reliability in service when produced through volume production techniques. The scale up of the Power Electronics will consider serial production requirements including establishing capability to test units in line with the future high-speed motor requirements of passenger car OEMs, compliance with industry standards for the functional safety of electrical and electronic systems, and compatibility with the next generation of AEM’s REM free motors. The Power Electronics system will also be benchmarked against competitor solutions to maximise future exploitation opportunities.
