Infinite Power Cell for supplying emergency and uninterruptible power

Abstract

Owners and operators of critical plant and equipment have a common challenge, that being, to ensure they have adequate back-up power in the event of network or local power outage. Heathcare providers in particular need to know that no matter what power outages or interruptions there may be, that critical equipment can function supported by an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

**A key challenge for UPS providers is to differentiate -- the IPC is totally different and unlike other UPS, each 10kW cell can provide 87MWh per annum continuous zero carbon power, reducing power offtake in normal operation, whilst provide that 10kW to support critical systems when all else fails.**

**The 10kW cells are modular, and can be arrayed to provide power output to fit the client's need for critical power support.**

The Infinite Power Cell can provide reliable secure zero carbon power anywhere. A perfect demonstration of British innovation in Northern England that will be manufactured here and exported globally to increase our share of the global UPS market and drive our economy to zero carbon.

The Infinite Power Cell can support UK industry and healthcare where there is a drive to decarbonise and reduce costs, whilst delivering a safe and reliable UPS solution.

The global opportunity is to augment British healthcare equipment and services with a UPS that will work where there is no reliable electricity grid or gas network, and boost confidence for plant and equipment owners and operators that they can provide continuous services even in severe crises.

Trials have demonstrated that the Infinite Power Cell can operate for decades on a stand-alone unit. We will manufacture our patented energy harvesting semiconductor contained in an Infinite Power Cell and assemble the units. The components to produce an Infinite Power Cell can be manufactured in the UK.

This project is a collaboration between the University of Sheffield Electrical Machines and Drives (EMD) Research Group and the Infinite Power Company Limited and aims to create a commercial demonstrator to prove the modular Infinite Power Cell is a viable option for supplying emergency and uninterruptible, off-grid, zero carbon emission, distributed power.
