Abstract
_This project aims to improve accuracy, reduce costs and turnaround times for the diagnosis of colon cancer. Currently, cancer diagnoses require several screening molecular tests subsequent to the confirmatory diagnosis of cancer by a pathologist._
_With increasing colon cancer incidence and an ageing workforce (60.7% of pathologists being \>55 years of age) and severe backlogs due to covid19, there is a need for solutions capable of relieving workload pressures in a cost- and time-effective way._
_Panakeia is developing a game-changing method for biomarker testing directly from biopsy images which enables faster, cheaper, more accurate diagnosis and treatment decision-making without needing wet-lab tests. Building on a successful initial Proof of Concept (PoC) study demonstrating very promising results in terms of accuracy and reduced timeframes, this 18-month project aims to refine and validate this technology to reach a standard acceptable for clinical use._
