Abstract
Child sexual intrafamilial abuse is a global issue that is severely under-researched and underreported due to the taboo and sensitive nature of the topic. The proposed project aims to fill a gap in the research and increase the potential for reporting of child sexual abuse through the education of children. The research study will aim to identify the different educational methods for children used by charities and schools, to increase children's awareness of intrafamilial sexual abuse. Strategies sponsored or endorsed by the UK Government will be assessed to determine if they are sufficient in increasing awareness and reporting of victims. The contextual background, previous literature and gaps in the field will be explored, to identify an appropriate and beneficial project that will investigate new data and research. Primary qualitative social research will be conducted through semi-structured interviews with experienced social workers and teachers. Participants will be selected through a purposive sampling method to understand their observations, perception and understanding of child sexual abuse education in its current form to identify what is effective, and what can be changed. All information will then be analysed to identify recurring themes and create potential suggestions, solutions or changes that can be made in initiatives, to protect children further and increase children's education and awareness of child intrafamilial sexual abuse.
