Uranium Cyanide and Isocyanide Complexes

Abstract
Although cyanide and isocyanide groups are classical ligands in organometallic chemistry, their chemistry with the actinide elements is relatively sparse and hence is poorly developed. This is surprising given that there are numerous examples of cyanide and isocyanide complexes for the transition metals supporting interesting reactivity, magnetic, and spectroscopic behaviours. This PhD hence seeks to target uranium cyanide and isocyanide complexes through novel syntheses, and explore the resulting structural motifs, reactivities, and magnetic and spectroscopic properties.
