Abstract
Armarna site O45.1 is believed to be the earliest glassworks so far known anywhere in the world. It has been under investigation since 1993, and the current project will see it to publication. The project will bring together the various strands of archaeological, experimental and scientific evidence to throw important new light on the question of ancient Egyptian glass, faience and pottery manufacture by revealing the technological processes used by the Pharaoh Akenaten's craftsmen at this small industrial estate in the 14th century B.C.
