Abstract
Trint is a UK-based content creation SME with Jeff Kofman (CEO/Founder and Emmy-winning Journalist), Tessa Kaday (Director of Product and Journalist), Alessandro Delfino (Data Scientist and Technical Lead), Jamie Morrison (Product Lead), Lisa Lavrishcheva (Associate Product Manager), Olga Kudryavtseva (Engineering Manager).
AI-powered transcriptions and translations have revolutionised production workflows for media organisations, making them faster, more efficient and more accurate. But today's tools can only transcribe in one language at a time, and usually only English. They don't work when many different languages are being spoken. Solving this challenge has been identified as one of the most sought-after innovations in the future of voice recognition.
In the UK, 65% of people cannot speak a foreign language, with only 6% proficient. News organisations competing to report on global/multilingual events have to depend on traditional manual translation. The requirement for translators for each language used are time-consuming and expensive. This language barrier and the associated costs leave the UK public less informed about critical issues, and news organisations uncompetitive on the global stage.
The absence of automated live transcription for multiple languages poses a challenge to adequately cover multilingual events, resulting in the marginalisation of diverse communities.
Trint is solving that problem by developing an AI-powered collaborative tool (MLTT Live) capable of providing live transcription in multiple languages, which are automatically detected, along with live translation capabilities from any language into any other language.
Trint's innovation greatly speeds up the reporting process for events in multiple languages. It eliminates the need for human translators, resulting in significant cost savings. Trint's system will recognise and convert more than 30 languages, providing instant transcripts and translations. All this on a collaborative platform, accessible as events happen. This cuts ~75% of the time required for reporters to cover multilingual events, regardless of language or location.
