The relationship between TSE infectivity in sheep blood and lymphiod tissues, PrP genotype, and disease pathogenesis

Lead Research Organisation: The Roslin Institute
Department Name: UNLISTED

Abstract

Abstracts are not currently available in GtR for all funded research. This is normally because the abstract was not required at the time of proposal submission, but may be because it included sensitive information such as personal details.

Technical Summary

The project objectives are to develop more sensitive assays for PrPsc and infectivity in sheep blood, to determine the distribution of infectivity and / or PrPsc among subsets of sheep leukocytes, to determine the degree of correlation between TSE infectivity in lymphoid tissues and blood and to determine whether PrP genotype influences the levels of PrP protein expressed in sheep tissues.
