Wearable Sustainable "Scent Bubble": the convergence of neuroscience and cosmetics
Lead Participant:
SENSORY DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY LTD
Abstract
As Fashion and Technology collide, exciting new opportunities arise for the Perfumery, Wellness and Beauty industries, enabling the connected consumer to engage further with the human senses, enhance emotional wellbeing and reduce their carbon footprint.
eScent is a platform-based deeptech company in the wearable _"adaptive"_ scent market. Founded by Dr Jenny Tillotson, who holds a PhD in textiles from the Royal College of Art, the Cambridge-based company is developing a wearable sustainable "**Scent Bubble**" product for delivering context-sensitive fragrances to enhance sensory experiences and provide significant new long-lasting benefits to the consumer. The product delivers more choice and functionality than the traditional passive single-use perfume bottle, elevating human experiences and providing a new way for brands to differentiate in a crowded market. eScent believes that its personalised "**Scent Bubble"** technology could change the consumer behaviour of wearing fragrances by extending the life cycle of products in a market that demands more sustainable packaging, choice, experiences and connectivity.
eScent is partnered by Dr Carolyn Mair, a recognised leader in consumer behaviour and applying psychology in the context of fashion. eScent has contracted with 42 Technology Ltd, which specialises in people-centric and system design processes to work on new and improved ideas for the Scent Bubble innovation, including concepts for the device and scent capsules, ensuring that they have a low-environmental impact, can be re-cycled, and supports consumers' eco-conscious zero packaging waste concerns.
