Abstract

MyGoodbyes aims to be a digital solution providing people with a safe space to talk about and plan for death. Through using App technology, we help people talk about dying and make those conversations easier and more light hearted, and in turn move on to plan for their end of life.

The Mission of MyGoodbyes is to enable people to have a good end of life experience by helping them prepare, on both a practical and emotional basis. In order to do this, MyGoodbyes offers a 'Party' concept designed to get the conversation started, supported through four key modules:

1. A digital data resource offering information and guidance that facilitates conversation and educates users.
2. Decision Tree technology to guide users through various scenarios that translate into recommendations for the best solution for their end of life care.
3. Inspiration: data-driven inspiration to inform, educate and more crucially, challenge beliefs, to ensure that your decisions are the right ones.
4. Communication: Through the MyGoodbyes Party & Workshop concepts, we propose using these simple techniques to get people talking about the end of life and their own wishes, whatever their age.

Our users will be provided with detailed, tailored guidance that both supports and challenges the respondents' answers. For example, if you indicate a preference to refuse resuscitation in future should you be unable to make your own decision, MyGoodbyes' proposed viewing would be videos from specialists with differing views, to ensure your decision is fully informed and balanced.

Respondents will then be offered the opportunity to implement the guidance through an expanded section of the App, available to subscribers.

In addition, our App provides a dedicated MyGoodbyes community allowing users to connect with like-minded people to help, support, and inspire each other.
