Microfluidic networks: an in vitro 3D culture system for the investigation of neuron-glial interactions in neruodegeneration.

Lead Research Organisation: University of Nottingham
Department Name: School of Life Sciences

Abstract

The principal goal of the project is to develop a new in vitro microfluidics system for investigating neuron-glial interactions under highly controlled conditions. The system is designed to more closely mimic in vivo conditions
than current culture methods, with the intention that it can replace the use of ex vivo tissue from transgenic animals as an experimental model for the study of neurodegeneration.
