Runoff Material Research project: Exploring potential applications of collected runoff as a source material in art and design

Lead Participant: GUERRILLA TECHNOLOGIES LTD

Abstract

Urban runoff, a significant environmental concern, carries a complex mixture of pollutants from city landscapes into water bodies, impacting aquatic ecosystems and human health. The Guerrilla device, a notable invention in this context, effectively captures these contaminants, presenting a unique opportunity to investigate their reuse.

This project's ambition extends beyond the deployment of Guerrilla units. It aims to collaborate with artists, designers, and material scientists to identify, process, and transform runoff pollutants into sustainable art materials and design elements. By doing so, it not only promotes environmental sustainability but also encourages a circular economy approach within the creative industries.

The project will involve a series of workshops, exhibitions, and collaborations, culminating in a showcase of artworks and designs made from runoff materials. It will serve as a platform for raising awareness about urban pollution and the possibilities of material innovation, inspiring a new wave of eco-conscious creativity.
