Flexible Multiport Converter Technology
Lead Participant:
PRODRIVE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY LIMITED
Abstract
This project will target one of the main obstacles to the mass-market take up of electric vehicles, namely the size and cost of the electrical DC power system that interconnects the battery, the traction system, an auxillary energy storage such as a super-capacitor, and the ‘hotel’ load (12V).
A flexible DC-DC converter technology will be devised and demonstrated at the 50 kW level, which, in one integrated unit, will interface the four different voltage rails, providing the required power flow functionality and control.
