Abstract
Complete title: Investigating the association between body composition and body image in young people: sociocultural influences, gender differences and impacts on mental health
Summary: My PhD aims to explore biosocial influences on adolescent body image. Using multiple measures of body composition, I explore the association between body composition trajectories and body image and will look at how this association might vary based on sociocultural factors. These factors include measures of relationship quality with parents and peers, as well as engagement with social media. Finally, I will model how these key elements of young people's physical, social, and emotional wellbeing contribute to adolescent mental health.
