Understanding the Cognitive Mechanisms of Loneliness in Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)
Lead Research Organisation:
Bangor University
Department Name: Sch of Psychology
Abstract
The mechanisms that underpin the experience of loneliness in the typical population, as well as those with ABI, are not well known. Furthermore, interventions that are aimed at reducing loneliness are not grounded in a mechanistic framework and the outcomes are inconsistent. Therefore, the current project will explore social and cognitive mechanisms that underpin loneliness in typical individuals, as well as those with an ABI, to inform clinical decision making and interventions that aim to reduce loneliness in ABI.
