Description | A. An archive should be established, with central stores at Sellafield and Culham that are gradually populated as suitable samples are either become available or are requested. B. An archive will be more cost- and time-efficient than present arrangements: an essential element is a central, user-accessible database integrated with suitable processes for assessing user applications, transfer of material, etc. These can be based on existing NDA processes. C. The archive could be established by March 2023 if EPSRC-NNUF funding is in place by July 2021 to implement Recommendations A and B (Stage 2). D. During Stage 2, the detailed arrangements for operation of the archive (Stage 3) need further consideration and agreement. It is recommended that these centre on an option in which there is central funding for baseline costs supplemented by user funding for costs specific to the withdrawal of samples from the archive. |
