Abstract
**Boxraw Labs (BXRL): Revolutionising Boxing with AI Technology**
BXRL aims to revolutionise the sport of boxing by deploying cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and machine learning.
BXRL will review boxer performance from fight video footage using its innovative tools to detect punches, parries, pivots, blocks, slips and weaves to provide technical analysis. This unprecedented attention to detail will transform the sport of boxing.
At the core of BXRL is an advanced AI model capable of interpreting video footage to identify and track the precise movements of boxers. Through sophisticated computer vision algorithms, the system will capture fighter data, providing detailed feedback on the boxers' movements and techniques. This data is then analysed to pinpoint technical successes and failures that offer, a unique, groundbreaking, insight into fighter performance.
The Innovate Grant will enable BXRL to develop its innovative AI tools. Specifically, it will support critical phases such as data collection, model training, and the creation of prototypes for demonstration purposes. This funding will allow us to create precise models and enable us to scale our solutions to provide deeper insights. Additionally, it will facilitate the integration of advanced features, enhance our data processing capabilities, and ensure rigorous testing and validation, with the ultimate aim of accelerating the development cycle and increasing our competitive edge in the market.
For example, in the broadcasting sector, BXRL's ambition is to bring new levels of depth and immersion to boxing coverage. Broadcasters can use real-time data and analytics to offer viewers detailed breakdowns of the action, enhancing the viewing experience with expert insights and statistics. This technology will make broadcasting more engaging and informative, helping audiences better understand the intricacies of the sport. Viewers will benefit from enriched commentary, with broadcasters able to highlight key moments, analyse fighters' strategies, and provide in-depth technical evaluations that were previously unavailable. BXRL will create a viewing experience never seen before in the world of combat sports.
BXRL aims to impact the immersive and creative industries cluster centred in Coventry and Warwickshire in the West Midlands. By pushing the boundaries of what is possible with AI and machine learning in sports, BXRL will contribute to the region's reputation as a hub for technological innovation and creative excellence. BXRL's later developmental stages will include collaborations with local athletes, sports organisations, students and universities promoting knowledge transfer and driving economic growth in the region.
