HybridCluster prototype

Abstract

Companies of all sizes are deciding to migrate their critical Linux applications to public cloud
infrastructure due to increased agility and cost savings once deployed on cloud infrastructure.
The actual migration requires substantial effort, and in many cases a complete re-architecting
of their business applications to suit the specific constraints of cloud infrastructure.
The aim of this prototype is to enable companies to deploy existing or pre-built Linux
applications on cloud infrastructure without needing to modify them, saving porting time and
cost involved in such a major move. Our end users will achieve a cost and time saving from
the process of migrating or deploying Linux applications onto cloud infrastructure. The reason
clients won’t need to modify their existing Linux applications is that our resilience and data
replication platform will continuously operate to keep their data safe, replicated between
servers in the cloud and even between different clouds to guarantee the service levels they
would otherwise be unable to achieve without re-architecting the applications to use services
and databases which are “cloud-friendly”, meaning that they have replication and failover
built into them.
HybridCluster specialise in tools that provide built-in resilience for containers on cloud
infrastructure. Since 2008, we have been making it simple to deploy some types of
applications (PHP + MySQL) reliably in an unreliable context. Our existing product is a fullstack
cloud platform architected for hosting web applications and email on commodity
hardware. With built in high availability, auto scaling and data vault it protects from both
infrastructure and user failures, enabling web hosting companies to sell high value cloud
services and retain peace of mind. Our TSB prototype will use the learning from this earlier
project to build a new product in the Linux/Docker/cloud infrastructure context, and generate
new IP in order to widen our market opportunity.
