Abstract
Why the universe is made up primarily by matter, and not by equal parts of matter and antimatter, is one most intriguing questions in modern science. One of the conditions required for the observed Baryon Asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) is the violation of Charge-Parity (CP) symmetry. There are very few sources of CP violation in the Standard Model (SM) of Particle Physics: i) The CP-violating phase in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) quark mixing matrix, ii) the Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) vacuum angle, and iii) the CP-violating phase in the Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata (PMNS) neutrino mixing matrix. The first two are known to be too weak to explain the observed BAU, so a measurement of the latter is of tremendous interest!
Evidence for neutrino CP violation has been produced both by the T2K and NOvA accelerator-based long-baseline neutrino experiments. The main goal of this thesis is to produce the final T2K CP violation result using the full T2K statistics and, in addition, to contribute towards a joint analysis of T2K and NOvA data.
