Abstract
Cybersecurity stands as a vast and multi-faceted area of research that is deeply influenced by its community of practitioners, spanning from computer scientists to juristicians. While its far-reaching ramications are a clear sign of its usefulness and theoretical depth, it can be surprising how even well-known basic principles as the CIA triad are all but well-understood. My research project is an attempt at giving a clear and firm foundation to the discipline as a whole, and to its basic tenets in particular. Not much work has been
done in this direction so far, yet there are several disciplines that could help in this effort. I am referring to logic, which historically proved to be extremely effective in bringing clarity and systematizing whole areas of research.
