What's in My Store

Abstract

For farmers and agronomists, the process of managing and keeping track of stock within their agrochemical stores can be a lengthy, needlessly complex process. Farmers are required to know at any time which plant protection products (herbicides, pesticides and insecticides) are being stored and whether these products are currently being used or if they legally need to be disposed of.

Currently, farmers are required to manually note the MAPP numbers of each product in storage (usually on paper) and then search for each of these products, in turn, using the HSE Pesticides Register Database to understand whether any given product is still authorised for use or whether it is coming towards its withdrawal date.

As there is no current way for this process to be done digitally, and there is currently no viable API to quickly retrieve and check information on the HSE database automatically, farmers are not only subject to human error, but as information around the products they store changes, or becomes available, there's no quick way to be notified of these changes until their next audit.

What's In My Store aims to address these issues, giving farmers and agronomists a simple-to-use mobile-ready tool designed to not only save time but ensure that farmers are notified when they need to be, giving them real-time understanding of whether the products they store are safe and compliant.
