Cambridge Sensotec Ltd development of a portable multi-gas biogas analyser for CH4-CO2-O2-H2S

Lead Participant: CAMBRIDGE SENSOTEC LIMITED

Abstract

Following market research and consultation with our distributors Cambridge Sensotec has
identified a gap in the current market for a flexible biogas analyser product. Having identified
the types and combinations of gas that customer would want to measure, the project will
undertake to produce a modular style gas analyser for principally measuring carbon dioxide,
methane, oxygen and combinations of other gases such as carbon monoxide and hydrogen
sulfide. Cambridge Sensotec has already designed and market successful gas analysers based
on zirconia oxygen sensors and will use its knowledge to move into a more portable style of
analyser battery power and management. The analyser will have full data-logging software,
alarms and outputs to give it full flexibility in the market place. Our aim is to target the midprice
market in this field where fixed and high cost installations dominate. We expect future
sales to be especially good in the Far East (Taiwan and China) where we have developed a
strong relationship with our distributors and have the required in-house language skills.
