BIPV Demonstrator

Abstract
The Innovation Voucher will be used to pay for the construction of a “demonstrator” to prove the feasibility of making a new type of electricity-generating window. A window of this type will include a holographic optical element, which will turn part of the light shining on to its surface through about 90°, and direct it along the inside of the glass to a strip of solar cells along the edge. This will enable windows to generate electricity, while remaining transparent. The “demonstrator” will be used to seek investment or funding to develop the technology so the innovation can be commercialised.
