Transformative Garment that alters in Shape, Size and Colour.

Lead Participant: FABRIC CHANGE LIMITED

Abstract

NERIK is a revolutionary tactile and visual textile with exceptional novel properties in fabric terms. It can be stretched in different directions without returning to its original shape, unless re-stretched. Changes in colour, printed designs and shape are evident when stretched and patterns can be produced when the material is pulled in different directions. A multitude of shapes and patterns appear and disappear, and a spontaneous colour change occurs within the fabric surface, which can be changed into different shapes or simply made to disappear completely. Moving images and shapes has been pioneered into a fabric which is extremely innovative.

This project will provide the resources to successfully be able to expediate the scale up enabling NERIK to be produced in commercial quantities and facilitate the introduction of this exciting new material to the market in the form of a new fashion garments that changes colour, shape and fits all sizes influencing sustainability by addressing fast fashion and textile waste and encouraging long term use. Offering one dual size can promote inclusivity and could make this garment more accessible in regions with limited access to a variety of clothing sizes. This is the Ultimate Transformative Garment unique to its wearer.
