Metaphysical Equivalence

Abstract
People can say the same things with different words; but this means they can talk past each other. My research investigates the general question: when are two theories, formulated in different ways, really "saying the same thing"?
The research seeks to make progress on this question by comparing concepts of theoretical equivalence recently developed in the context of theories in formal languages. It investigates whether these equivalence concepts track philosophically relevant distinctions and develops conditions of their formal and metaphysical adequacy.
