Lylo - Living Lab Feedback & Development

Abstract
Reducing water use and increasing energy efficiency are two significant global challenges in creating a more sustainable world. Lylo plans to tackle both issues within the laundry market by creating a circular washing machine -- a household aerating washing machine that reuses waste shower water.
Lylo's product works by collecting waste shower water in a unique portable tank-mat that can be placed inside the shower tray while showering. This tank-mat is then easily transferred and attached to our washing machine unit. This unit reuses the water to wash 3.5kg of clothes without the need to heat the water as it innovatively aerates detergents to save 80% of the energy otherwise used in each wash. This supports UK households to reach net zero with their laundry appliances.
During this project, Lylo plans to test its TRL5 prototype within a living laboratory to complete extended user testing and accelerated testing of the tank and interface. Extended natural use testing will allow Lylo to assess behaviour changes over an extended period and secure future pilot opportunities. Accelerated comparison of tank alternatives will enable Lylo to refine the main user touchpoint using co-design techniques.
