Description The viscosity of liquid actinide oxides have been predicted using atomic scale computer simulations. This is important to know in the case of severe nuclear accidents during which the nuclear fuel melts. Those predictions were made possible by the derivation of new interatomic potentials that predict how the forces between atoms change as a function of atomic separations.
Exploitation Route Severe nuclear accident codes used all countries that operate nuclear reactors.
