CuratorSpace Art-Selling Platform

Lead Participant: CURATORSPACE LIMITED

Abstract

CuratorSpace is one of the leading arts opportunities platforms in the UK. It was originally set up for curators, arts organisations, and galleries, to allow them to publicise and manage their open calls and to connect with new artists. It has since become a key resource for arts organisations and arts practitioners throughout the UK, with many artists regularly using it to find opportunities to build their practice.

We've helped to organise over 6,500 arts opportunities, accepted over 150,000 submissions and have had over 60,000 users register on our platform. We've worked with organisations including the Royal Society of Sculptors, York Museums, the Contemporary Glass Society, the Hepworth Wakefield, the Contemporary British Painting Prize, Fruitmarket Gallery, and many more.

We now plan to build a public-facing marketplace that will allow artists to sell their art without the high commissions or transaction fees levied by other online galleries. Our paying artist subscribers will be able to sell their art through the new e-commerce website, using our existing members area to manage stock, delivery options, and listings. The project will include developing a plugin that will allow artists to sell artwork through their personal websites using the CuratorSpace infrastructure and payment portal.
