Enhancing Airtightness Quantification with the Portascanner® Airtight

Lead Participant: COLTRACO LIMITED

Abstract

This project is designed to develop, evaluate, validate, and optimise the utility of a novel rapid low-cost ultrasonic technology, the Portascanner(r) Airtight, that can be used to assess and quantify the airtightness performance of a building quickly. The accuracy of the technology in identifying, locating, and quantifying air leaks will be evaluated, as will the process by which it is used, to ultimately validate the efficacy of the technology and derive a best practice methodology for service engineers. Other airtightness testing technologies such as blower door fans will be compared in order to assess the accuracy of the Portascanner(r) Airtight and to identify how it compliments tried and tested existing technologies.
