Measurement of the associated production of a Z boson and bottom or charm quarks with the ATLAS experiment

Lead Research Organisation: Queen Mary University of London
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

A measurement will be performed of the inclusive and differential cross section of the production of a Z boson in association with one or two b or c quarks in proton-proton collisions at the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The measurement will be based on proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector during 2015-2018 at a center-of-mass energy of 13TeV. The measured cross sections will be compared to state-of-the-art simulations and calculations at highest available order in perturbative QCD, using various flavour and mass schemes and several Parton Distribution Functions with different descriptions of the bottom and charm content of the proton.
