Study of top quark decays

Lead Research Organisation: Lancaster University
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The top quark is the heaviest known particle. Therefore, its coupling to the particles predicted by new theories can be substantial. The aim of the project is to search for the contribution of new physics in the decays of top quark. This task will involve the search for decays of top quark t ->q h (q = u,c). These decays are strongly suppressed in the Standard Model, but the contribution of new physics can considerably increase the branching fractions.
