Computing the biology of mitochondria in cell degeneration

Lead Research Organisation: Royal Veterinary College
Department Name: Comparative Biomedical Sciences CBS

Abstract

Pathway analysis has become the first choice for gaining insight into the underlying biology of differentially expressed genes and proteins, as it reduces complexity and has increased explanatory power. We aim to adopt the evolution of knowledge base-driven pathway analysis to elucidate aspects of the mitochondrial protein of our interest TSPO. The most recent years of research have indeed pointed to a pleiotropic role for TSPO function that could imply a direct regulation of gene expression and their dependent pathways. By combing the use of available libraries and genome wide analysis of our experimental models we will investigate this implementing the advanced approaches in bio-informatics.
