Photocatalytic cascade cyclisations initiated by the ring-opening of strained cyclopropyl amines.

Lead Research Organisation: University of Bristol
Department Name: Chemistry

Abstract

Amines have long since been utilised in photocatalytic reactions as sacrificial electron donors, however their utility to also serve as the substrate is only just being explored. More relevantly, the ability to oxidise amines adjacent to strained cyclopropanes, which can then ring open and undergo further radical reactions has not been investigated. The project will therefore study the oxidation and reactivity of cyclopropyl amines in undergoing cascade cyclisations and forming fused saturated scaffolds.
