Continuous-time quantum computing with cooling

Lead Research Organisation: Durham University
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

Continuous-time quantum computing includes, as special cases, adiabatic quantum computation, computation by (continuous-time) quantum walk, quantum annealing, and many types of special purpose quantum simulation.
For practical applications, errors from multiple sources will damage the computation. This project will develop strategies for error mitigation suitable for continuous-time quantum computing, using analytical and computational methods to determine the effectiveness of the strategies. Applications to specific implementations will then be developed, focusing on platforms relevant for the experiments carried out by colleagues in the Quantum Light and Matter Research Section at Durham. Where possible, collaboration with experimentalists will lead to experimental tests of the methods.
