Improving 1 and 2-qubit gate fidelities for laser-written nitrogen vacancy centres in diamond

Lead Research Organisation: University of Warwick
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

Nitrogen vacancy (NV) centres in diamond are useful for quantum technologies including magnetometry, quantum computing and quantum communication. In addition, they may in future be used to test the macroscopic limits of quantum mechanics as part of the program called "Quantum Technology for Fundamental Physics". Here we will develop the instrumentation for small-scale quantum computing with laser-written single NV centres. Companies involved include Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology and Element Six. Collaborators include Jason Smith in Oxford.
