Florilegium of pollen life and death

Lead Research Organisation: University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Geographical & Earth Sciences

Abstract

Florilegium is the latin term for anthology, and is used both in some Christian monastic
communities to denote the collection of biblical passages which are 'picked like flowers' and
collected in separate books to create new 'bouquets' of meaning, as well as in botany where
books contenting detailed depictions of plants may be used as identification keys. The project will
take on these sentiments, helping the readers to orient themselves within a world of pollen life of
past present and future, putting scientific and poetic understandings and curiosities together.
