Arc failure detection and location within power electronics based distribution systems using deterministic and heuristic signal processing methods

Lead Research Organisation: University of Nottingham
Department Name: Faculty of Engineering

Abstract

Arc detection and location are becoming increasingly important as we move to more-electric and full electric transport. Arc detection and location requires the extraction of features in the measured system voltage and current waveforms which indicate the presence of an intermittent fault.

The aim of this project will be to investigate both deterministic and heuristic techniques for arc detection and location, with a particular emphasis on determining the influence of local power electronic loads on the patterns which need to be identified
