Homotopical and higher categorical structures

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Mathematics

Abstract

This project concerns homotopical and higher categorical structures. These appear in topology, arithmetic geometry, mathematical physics, and representation theory. As these subjects turn increasingly to the phenomenon of "categorification," these structures become accordingly central. This project will focus on understanding these structures and establishing their basic properties. The goal will be to solve concrete problems from subjects outside homotopy theory using homotopical tools.
