QuickWord: a mobile version of the repeated, increasingly-speeded production naming therapy in post-stroke aphasia

Lead Research Organisation: University of Cambridge
Department Name: MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit

Abstract

In conclusion, I consider this proposed Ph.D. research to be a valuable contribution to
post-stroke anomia treatment, our understanding of what predicts naming therapy outcomes
and exploration of the neural mechanisms involved in recovery; potentially leading to more
personalised treatment plans. For me, it also constitutes a step towards a career in academia
and an opportunity to continue to be involved in aphasia research. I am confident that the
Cambridge ESRC DTP Knowledge Exchange Studentship will allow me to develop new
skills, like web app development, through the cooperation with Ounce Technology, as well as
enhance my existing neuroimaging analysis skills. I would be honoured to be able to pursue
my research at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit and be supervised by Dr. Ajay
Halai and Prof. Matthew Lambon-Ralph.
