An evaluation of the 'Surfwell' program for promoting health and wellbeing among police officers.

Abstract

This research aims to: (i) evaluate the effects of participating in a surf therapy program provided by the Devon and Cornwall Police on psychological outcomes among service police officers and staff (ii) determine if a surf therapy programme has a sustained effect on psychological outcomes. (iii) understand the mechanisms and moderators for any detected changes

The specific research questions that will be addressed are:
1) Are psychological outcome scores more desirable post-intervention than before?
2) Are the immediate benefits of surf therapy on mental health sustained over time?
3) What mechanisms and moderators give rise to psychological changes as a result of surf therapy?
