Marine Soundscapes - finding and communicating biological signals within acoustic data collected by autonomous vehicles

Lead Research Organisation: University of Southampton
Department Name: Sch of Ocean and Earth Science

Abstract

This project aims to automatically detect and localise deep diving cetacean species from passive acoustic data recorded aboard gliders, in order to answer questions about the abundance and behaviour of those species. Currently the project is focusing on the data collected from the deployment of four gliders in the Pelagos Sanctuary (Mediterranean).
